This project is based loosely on a board game that itself is based on a school yard game. An original work from one artist begins a rotation, is passed discreetly to the next artist, who translates the piece into a work all their own. The new work is passed to the next artist, who translates and creates, passing again, and so forth.
With an illustrator, a photographer and a sculptor, all from varied backgrounds, the work is endlessly morphing. As stories rotate, vocabularies emerge, coalesce, dissolve. Pieces are increasingly influenced by the group but remain specific to the maker. Over months of interpretations and reimaginings, six multifarious linear storylines have been captured.
Weaving together multiple voices and marrying ideas, this body of works speaks directly to an audience in a diverse urban landscape who require active viewing in their everyday lives. The world we see is the same, what we take away from it is our own.
