Backyard mural in
Petone, New Zealand
Becks Popham and I joined forces and do collaborative projects under the name Poppycock. Becks is an incredible illustrator and we had access to this blank concrete wall in Petone, NZ. This project is our largest to date. But commissions are welcome. We won a $500 gift certificate from Resene (paint company) for this mural.

Hotel Pattee Integrated Art
Perry, Iowa
Part of a comprehensive site development and plaza design, Soumas Court has become a memorial garden and destination for the city of Perry, Iowa. Many different artist-designed and fabricated elements are integrated throughout the plaza based on its relationship to the Arts and Crafts’ Hotel Pattee. Over 3,000 “nesting” leaves of English Ivy and White Oak create a walking path through the plaza. Individual portrait tiles hang on the wall of the courtyard to honor over one hundred people in the history of the Perry community.

Iowa Department of Public Safety - "Hand and Land: Fingerprint"
Des Moines, Iowa
This comprehensive installation is based upon the human hand and its relationship to the landscape. Two “fingerprint” columns flank the main entrance. Exterior terra cotta Echo-Blocks ® at the entry are modeled with various “hand” symbols and names of the respective Department of Public Safety divisions. Inside, visitors are greeted by lighted text bulkheads cut from steel. The interior leaded stained-glass window is the central integrated feature of the comprehensive artistic installation, based on an actual human fingerprint. Wayfinding is provided by logo signage panels of contemporary icons marking each division of Public Safety.

Enlightenment Mural
Iowa State University Campus
Ames, Iowa
Funded by the College of Education and the J.W. Fisher Artist-in-Residency Program. In the Art on Campus Collection, University Museums, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa.
I worked as Ingrid's Undergraduate Research Assistant for three years while I worked toward my BFA. Hands down, those years are the most pivotal and formative of my artistic life. Ingrid introduced me to clay, helped me hone a craft rather than dabble in a past time and challenged me to manage my creativity and finish the projects I started.
My part in the Enlightenment Mural was based mostly in the mold making process. Each stoneware block was sculpted and cast in plaster, need a replacement ever be made.
